Lost Beginnings

Doku was originally born Deauveanne de Viefand, the only scion of House Viefand in Ishgard. Born to a world renowned goldsmith father and bard virtuoso mother, Doku wanted for nothing in her early childhood. However, due to greed and jealousy the happy family would not last. The young girl would lose her parents to poison and fire, with heretics spiriting her away the same night. Nothing would ever be the same again...and Doku would remember nothing except screams and flashes of white.

Precious Present

In present time, Doku is the proprietor of Poisoned Pestle and The Poison Grotto, the executive director of the Sacred Oak foundation, and a professor at St. Endalim's Scholasticate...among other occupations. After being rescued by Temple Knights and becoming a ward of the Scholasticate, Doku studied in Ishgard for several years. This culminated in apprenticeships specializing in lutherie, archeterie, and alchemy. Initially, her apprentice years were spent abroad for the former two. However, a developed interest in local flora led to self-taught alchemy, soon leading her to seek formal training from a Sharlayan master. Doku now specializes in rare and experimental potions as well as runic inscriptions and enchantments, her expertise sought by many around the world. Things are certainly looking up these days...

Us, Ourself, and We

Due to unfortunate events, Doku fell ill which culminated in an aether explosion and a subsequent healing coma. While still largely herself, she has gained some new features and taken to referring to herself in plural--at least outside of Ishgard's prying eyes. Who exactly is "Edera"?

"It is odd for them to hear someone speak their name. After all, it was one long buried, deep in the recesses of Deau's memory. But Edera remembered. It had been Deau's biggest secret upon her capture from the heretics. Her own little rebellion. Before they broke her. And then Edera bloomed and protected it for both of them."

#1: Aether / Soul - For those with aethersight, Doku's aether is baby pink and blue, swirling together in harmony. As for her soul, there seems to be two for some reason...yet so intertwined it may be hard to notice at first.

#2: Draconic Traits - Doku is an Ishgardian elezen with draconic features, taken in as a ward in her youth by St. Endalim's Scholasticate. These features cause her some amount of disdain within Ishgard. Dragonkin may feel something familiar in Doku's aether and soul...and notice something missing, even if it is not clear what that might be; especially those with ties to the first brood.

#3: Blind Spot- One may notice that only one of Doku's eyes (the blue one, right) seems to hold emotion at any given time. There may be times where Doku appears not to see those trying to catch her attention from the left.

#4: Lutherie - Doku is a master luthier, specializing in the craft and repair of instruments in the wood family (violins, violas, morin khuur, etc.). Do you wish to commission an instrument? Repair work?

#5: Alchemy - Doku is a world renowned master alchemist specializing in the rare, obscure, and experimental; as well as runic inscriptions and enchantments. Perhaps you have seen her work in an alchemist journal, at a conference, her shops, word of mouth, etc. She would be willing to craft something custom...for a fee.

#6: Research & Creative Writings - While Doku actively contributes to theoretical and practical research as a part of her work, she also writes adult romance novels in her spare time. Any of these can be found in her shop and out wherever tomes are sold. Perhaps you are a fan of her work? A hard critic? Recent examples include the controversial [to Ishgard] and newly released Dragon Blood: A Comprehensive Guide and Compendium, and Oasis in the Sagolii (M/M).

#7: Professor - Doku has worked as a professor of alchemy and music at St. Endalim's for quite a few years, and is therefore a kind of public figure in Ishgard. Are you a professor? A parent? Concerned citizen? There are whispers that she may leave the school soon...Is there truth to this? Will she continue to teach? Where?

#8: Sacred Oak Foundation - Doku is the executive director of the Sacred Oak foundation, a charity organization striving to improve quality of life in orphanages across Eorzea and beyond; including Kugane, Tuliyollal, and new efforts in Yanxia.
